Toyota Sequoia 2024: Redesign and Release Date. Just like the entire family of Toyota’s full-size trucks and SUVs, the current generation of this huge SUV is also very old and desperately needs a redesign. It lags behind the competition in pretty much every aspect, which is no wonder considering that we’ve been seeing the same vehicle, with modest updates, for nearly 13 years. So, it’s not hard to conclude that this model lacks refinement much younger rivals have. Lovers of this super practical SUV will be glad to hear that the new generation is in the works and that it will probably come as the Toyota Sequoia 2024.
The new model is expected to bring improvements in many aspects. We count on a completely new design, based on the next-generation Tundra. A new platform, new powertrain, loads of new tech features are just some of the things that come to mind. We expect to see the new model is less than two years.
Toyota Sequoia 2024 Engines
The current model comes with a well-known 5.7-liter V8 engine. This super-reliable, but also thirsty engine will probably be replaced with something more efficient. One of the possibilities is to see the same hybrid setup as in the new Tundra, which is expected to feature a max output of around 450 horsepower. Still, we expect that base versions would rather come with something simpler and more affordable. That could easily be some turbocharged V6 unit, but the details are yet to come. We count on a new transmission, which will probably be Toyota’s new 10-speed automatic.

Toyota Sequoia 2024 Redesign
Given the current-generation’s age, there is no doubt that the upcoming Toyota Sequoia redesign 2024 will bring tons of novelties. Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform. Once again, we will see a genuine body-on-frame SUV, which will share mechanics with the next-generation Tundra. It will ride on a BoF version of the new TNGA platform and we have no doubt it will be lighter, more comfortable and better to drive.
The new platform is expected to bring a lot of new design solutions, starting from a new suspension setup. Allegedly, the new model will feature air suspension, which would have a drastic impact on the ride quality, whether it’s about comfort or handling. Of course, the new platform also means the possibility of an electrified powertrain but we will get on that in a minute.
Exterior Design
When it comes to exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is the size. The current model is already one of the biggest SUVs on the market, with more than 122 inches between the axles. The new Toyota Sequoia 2024 could only get bigger and some sources suggest it could take on a long-wheelbase version of Expedition and Suburban, which both feature more than 130 inches in wheelbase. We believe that the new Sequoia will sit somewhere between standard and extended full-size SUVs, and our rough estimation goes around 125 inches.
Of course, this redesign will bring completely new styling. At this point, we can only judge on unofficial rendering photos that appeared some time ago. These suggest an evolutionary approach, with a lot of details borrowed from crossovers like Highlander and RAV4. We expect that to see the first test mules in the first half of next year.
Interior Design
When it comes to interior design, we expect that the Japanese manufacturer will put the focus on things like aesthetics and quality, as well as on new technologies. This is where the current generation lags behind competitors. It features an outdated dashboard design, which isn’t just lacking modern style. It also features mostly hard plastics and other low-rent materials. We also count on a new infotainment system and other significant upgrades in terms of tech goodies.
On the other side, the current model is already impressive in terms of interior space. So, things can only become even better with the new Toyota Sequoia 2024. With 122 inches in wheelbase, it’s obvious that the current generation offers plenty of legroom in all three rows. Even the third row offers more than 35 inches of legroom, while the first and second row both offer way more than 40 inches. The cargo area in the current model features more than 120 cubic feet of the overall volume. Even if we don’t see any particular improvement (but we will), the new model will still remain pretty respectable in this aspect.
Toyota Sequoia 2024 Release Date and Price
When it comes to the Toyota Sequoia 2024 release date, we expect to see the new model in less than two years. The base price shouldn’t be significantly increased compared to the current generation, which starts at around 50.000 dollars.
