Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024: Engine and Price. The new generation of the popular luxury mid-size SUV is here. It comes with a completely new design and brings improvements in various aspects. Among interesting novelties, there is also the optional third row, which makes GLE a 7-seater. At this point, this is just an optional feature, but it looks like it may become standard in the next year, thanks to a stretched wheelbase. Still, that won’t be the most interesting novelty for the next year, as the new hi-performance of Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 is on the way, with the famous AMG badge, in order to compete with the new version of the M-badged BMW X5.
Other than these two novelties, we don’t expect to see any particular change. This is a fresh model, introduced last year, so it doesn’t make any sense to make bigger changes for 2024. Still, a couple of smaller tweaks in terms of standard and optional equipment is always an option. In any case, the new model won’t hit the market before the last quarter of 2023.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 Engines
Without any doubt, the biggest novelty for the next year will be a new hi-performance version. Of course, it will come under AMG’s badge. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 will come with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, which is good for about 603 horsepower and promises excellent performances, including a 0-60 time in about 3.7 seconds.

The rest of the lineup will remain the same. The base version will carry on with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 255 horsepower. A mid-range option would be a 3.0-liter turbo-six, which is good for about 362 horsepower. There is a more basic version of the twin-turbo V8, which features a max output of 483 horsepower. All engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission. V6 and V8 units come standard with the EQ Boost system, which adds a little bit of power in short periods and also improves fuel economy.
Is there a chance to see standard 3-row version?
The new generation of this crossover came with various interesting novelties and one of them is the optional third row of seats. Considering that the recent redesign has brought a notably longer wheelbase, which now goes up to nearly 118 inches, this was pretty much expected.
One of the interesting things about this crossover it that there is also a stretched-wheelbase version. However, such a model is currently available only in India and it adds around three inches between the axles. Interestingly, this Indian version isn’t a 7-seater but rather sticks to just two rows. With this version, the German carmaker is rather aiming executives that large families, so the only benefit from the stretched version is more legroom in the second row.

Still, this version could serve as a basis for the 3-row version in other parts of the world. With a 121-inch wheelbase, there is no doubt that the Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 interior would be spacious enough to offer three quite spacious and comfortable rows of seats.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 Interior
Other than the possible version with standard three rows, we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year, at least when it comes to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 interior. Therefore, you may count on the same design, which means you may count on the level of quality that is typical for this manufacturer. In practice, this would mean elegant aesthetics, first-grade materials and excellent craftsmanship.
In the current model, the amount of legroom is generous in both rows, while the seats are amazing. You may count on goodies like heat, massage, and power adjustments. On the other side, the third row is okay but typically tight for the class. We hope this will change if the new version arrives.
Features
When it comes to standard and optional equipment, this model really shines and we don’t expect any particular change for the next year. The current model already features a pretty long list of standard equipment, which includes goodies like a couple of huge 12.3-inch screens. Of course, one of them is for the instrument cluster, while the other runs the infotainment system. The list of standard tech goodies also includes things like a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, five USB ports, proximity key entry, push-button start etc. In higher trims, you can also get things like wireless charging for enabled smartphones, quad-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an in-cabin air fragrance system and much more.
When it comes to safety features, all models come standard with a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, active brake assist, and driver attention monitoring, active park assist etc. Additionally, you can get a head-up display, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, active steering assist, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and bicyclist monitoring, lane change assist.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 Release Date and Price
When it comes to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 2024 release date, the new AMG version will come in the summer. The rest of the lineup will arrive in the last quarter of the year. The current model starts at around 54.500 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year.
