It’s no wonder that many consider it one of the class leaders. Still, Volvo is a company that likes to have full control in its hands, so there is no doubt that we will see a facelift pretty soon. If the facelift happens, you may expect updated styling, but some sources suggest we could see some modifications on the inside as well. This particularly refers to the infotainment system, which could easily come completely redesigned. Of all, base models will carry on with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 250 horsepower. There is an upgraded version of this engine, which gets an additional supercharger, which raises the max output to 316 horsepower. There is a plug-in hybrid version, with a total output of 400 horses. All three models come with a familiar 8-speed automatic transmission from Aisin.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around about 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the class. The PHEV is, of course, more efficient. Still, that hybrid system isn’t as refined as you would expect from a modern premium car, so our suggestion would be to stick with the base engine.
Volvo XC60 2024 Facelift
The current generation of this luxury crossover has been around for a couple of years. We could say it is still pretty fresh, so no bigger mechanical modifications should come with this update. Of course, it will continue to ride on a familiar SPA platform, while the biggest mechanical updates we could see are those in terms of the suspension setup, which could get a couple of tweaks.
On the other side, we could see some styling changes. The current model looks good and it follows the brand’s contemporary design language. Still, we might see some tweaks at the front, with aesthetical solutions similar to those in the upcoming XC90. This would probably mean a little bit sharper approach to the bumper, grille and maybe even some modifications on headlights. We are still waiting to see how the new-generation XC90 will look like, so we can’t be more specific at the moment.
Interior
Some revisions could happen on the inside as well. If you look at the current dashboard, it looks really good. Materials are great, as well as the build quality. However, most drivers don’t like its infotainment systems because of the lack of physical buttons and knobs for climate and other basic controls. We could see some revisions in this aspect.

On the other side, we don’t expect changes in terms of seating. Both rows are generous with space, while the front seats are some of the best in the class. The visibility is great in all directions, while we also like the fact that the cargo area is pretty generous. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Features
When it comes to standard features, keep in mind that the recent update of the 2022 model has brought a whole bunch of novelties in this aspect. Things like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and front parking sensors, as well as a new 19-inch wheel design and power-folding exterior mirrors with an auto-dimming function, have been added to the list of standard equipment, so we don’t expect too many novelties in this aspect for the Volvo XC60 2024.
On the other side, we expect to see that update of the infotainment system. The screen size could become bigger but more importantly, we could on physical control for basic commands, especially for climate controls. On the other side, graphics and software, in general, are very good and we don’t expect bigger modifications in that aspect.
