BMW X5 2024: Hybrid and Changes. The popular mid-size crossover from Bavaria has been around for more than two decades and the latest iteration came a few years ago. It still competes pretty well in the segment but the management feels it’s the perfect time for updates. We are about to see a facelift for the next year, which will include a three-row version. The BMW X5 2024 will get all kinds of updates, but the main focus will remain on the styling.
Besides the styling updates, we count on a new infotainment system and several more novelties. Among them, we will also see a new mild-hybrid system, which will be installed in all versions. On the other side, the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on a luxury crossover that offers great ride quality, excellent powertrain options and a long list of standard and available equipment. We expect to see it sometime in the second half of the year.
BMW X5 2024 Engines
The biggest novelty under the hood will be a new mild-hybrid system, which will be available with each of the three engines that are currently in offer. The offer will start with a familiar 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower. There is also an optional 4.4-liter V8, which comes in two output variants, with either 523 or 600 horsepower. The latter can further be upgraded with the Competition package, which adds 17 ponies. The aforementioned mild-hybrid system won’t just add more torque to each engine, but also 11 horsepower.
There is a plug-in hybrid version, which will continue without changes. You may count on a familiar setup, which is based on the same inline-six engine, which gets help from an electric motor, for a total output of 389 horsepower.
BMW X5 2024 Facelift
The upcoming mid-cycle update will be mostly about visual changes. Just a couple of weeks ago, many sources were suggesting radical changes and the same grille design as in the recently-introduced 4 Series. However, that won’t happen, as the testing model has been spotted on the road. It may wear camouflage, but it’s quite easy to see that the grille design will remain largely the same.
Therefore, we will see typical BMW mid-cycle updates, which are subtle and modest. The biggest change at the front should be the new bumper, with different air intakes and a more aggressive overall stance. On the rear end, we expect just a couple of minor tweaks, mostly to the bumper and exhaust pipes. Naturally, we count on typical updates as well, such as new color options, wheels etc.
Mechanical changes are not expected, though some sources suggest BMW might make some tweaks in terms of steering.
Interior
If you look at the current cabin, it comes in BMW’s typical approach. Instead of an overwhelming hi-tech Audi-like layout, or quite kitschy aesthetics from Mercedes-Benz, this company rather keeps things simple and we like it. Therefore, we doubt that the company will make more important revisions to the dashboard, though it’s pretty much a certain thing that the new 10.25-inch touchscreen will find its place in the updated crossover.
BMW X5 Interior: 2024 Model Year
On the other side, the overall layout will certainly remain the same. The BMW X5 2024 will continue with five seats as standard, while the third row will be options. Things in terms of the passenger room won’t change, so you may count on two quite spacious and comfortable rows of seats. On the other side, the optional third row will remain tight and for kids only.
Features
The current model already features a quite decent list of standard equipment but we expect to see novelties anyway. The current model comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10-speaker stereo, a touchpad controller, voice recognition, Bluetooth, five USB ports, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, automatic climate control, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, and a panoramic moonroof. So, novelties can be found on the current list of options. Some of the things that come to mind are wireless charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The same thing goes for safety features. All models currently come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive LED headlights, fatigue and focus alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. The list of options includes a head-up display, hands-free parallel park assist, a surround-view parking camera system, and traffic jam assist, which manages braking, acceleration, and steering in low-speed traffic conditions. We presume some of these could become standard in the 2024 BMW X7.
BMW X5 2024 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the BMW X5 2024 sometime in the second half of the year, with the starting price of around 62.000 dollars. Of course, key competitors will be Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7.
