Toyota Highlander 2024: Hybrid and Release Date. The next generation of the popular three-row crossover is on its way and some car enthusiasts are already talking about possible changes for the second production year. We are pretty sure that any of those changes won’t come and that the Toyota Highlander 2024 will continue in the same way as the 2023 model year, which is about to hit the market in December. Novelties will be numerous.
At this point, we don’t know all the details about the new model. Still, some of the most basic things are known. Therefore, we can say that the new model will be bigger and more comfortable. It will be more efficient, as a new hybrid version is ready, with pretty impressive mpg ratings. Finally, we are about to see tech goodies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are missing in the current model.
Considering that we won’t see any notable changes for the second production year, the Toyota Highlander 2024 should hit the market late in the next year.
Toyota Highlander 2024 Engine
When it comes to standard models, the Toyota Highlander 2024 comes with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which goes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers 295 horsepower. We expect that the combined fuel economy will go around 22 mpg.
Hybrid
Unlike the gasoline version, the Toyota Highlander 2024 hybrid will come with a completely new setup. It is based on a four-cylinder gasoline engine and delivers around 240 horsepower. That’s significantly less horsepower than the outgoing model. You may also count on significant improvement in terms of fuel economy. This version should be able to return around 34 mpg in a combined ride.
Toyota Highlander 2024 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the new Toyota Highlander 2024 will hit the market without too many changes compared to the 2023 model year, which is about to come with a completely new design. Therefore, we may count on loads of new design solutions and technologies, starting from the new TNGA platform, which should improve the ride quality, as well as comfort. Also, there is a new styling.
As you may notice in the pictures, the new generation comes with a pretty classic look. You won’t find any radical change compared to the previous generation, though there is a completely new face, with new grille, headlights etc. Everything comes in a pretty subtle manner, just like we used from Toyota.
Dimensions
At this point, we don’t know too much about Toyota Highlander 2024 dimensions. We are still waiting for the company to release the exact numbers about interior dimensions. Far, we know that the new model gets about 2.5 inches in the wheelbase, so it now measures around 112.2 inches. The overall length is also slightly bigger and goes around 195 inches. As you can see, the new model is slightly bigger and although we are still waiting for the interior dimensions, we may presume that the new model won’t be much bigger than the current model.
This is one of the smaller mid-size crossovers in the class. Unlike models like Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot or VW Atlas, which tend to be as spacious as possible, Toyota offers a vehicle that has a fine balance between size and comfort. It may not feature the most comfortable third row but you can count on pretty good maneuverability, which is vastly important for urban conditions.
Details about interior dimensions like legroom, headroom, cargo space and similar things will come in a couple of weeks, after the new-generation’s launch.
Interior
Another aspect that will carry on in the same way is the Toyota Highlander 2024 interior. The new model comes with notable improvements, so we presume bigger changes for the second production year won’t come. The new cabin looks pretty classy. You may notice much finer materials, while some of the highlights are new tech goodies, such as large touchscreens, digital cluster and more. On the other side, the trim level organization remains pretty much the same. Moreover, we already know some of the key features for each version.
Trim Levels
The new model will be available in the following trim levels– L, LE, XLE, Limited and Platinum.
The base L trim is already pretty decent. You may count on Toyota’s famous Safety Sense suite of safety features, 8-inch touchscreen, LED headlights and taillights, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, three-zone automatic climate control etc.
The LE adds a couple of safety features, such as Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The list of standard equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED fog lights, power tailgate etc.

The mid-range XLE includes power-adjustable passenger seat, as well as automatic LED headlights and high beams. Also, there are heated front seats, second-row Captain’s chairs, roof rails and a power moonroof.
The Toyota Highlander 2024 will definitely remain one of the most popular choices. This is a quite luxurious trim level, with lots of additional features. Some of the highlights are 20-inch limited alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, heated and cooled front seats, leather upholstery, wood interior trim, premium JBL audio system etc.
There is the Platinum trim, with additions like a 12.3-inch touchscreen, upgraded leather upholstery, head-up display, 360-degree camera, heated second-row seats and many more.

We expect to see Toyota Highlander 2024 sometime in the last quarter of the next year. Base models should go around 34.000 dollars.
