Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024: Rumors and Redesign. The new generation of the company’s full-size SUV is here. It comes with a completely new design, with improvements in all aspects. It is bigger, more comfortable and better to drive. Naturally, there is a new styling, as well as a full load of tech features in the offer. All this would normally indicate no bigger changes for the Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024, which will represent the second production year of the new, third-generation model. However, MB has different plans.
The next year will also bring some pretty exciting novelties. We are about to see a new version of the famous AMG-badged performer. This version will come with significant upgrades, starting from a powerful V8 engine, new suspension and all other kinds of upgrades. On the other side, the rest of the lineup should carry on in the pretty much same way. We expect to see Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 in the last quarter of the year, with the pretty much same price tag.
Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 Engines
Other than the new AMG version, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 will carry on with familiar engines in the offer. Base models will be equipped with a new 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, which is good for about 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims will come with a 4.0-liter turbo V8, which is good for about 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Both engines come with a mild hybrid system, which provides an additional 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in short intervals. When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, which are pretty good ratings for the class.
How spacious is this SUV?
As we are talking about the flagship model of one of the most renowned luxury carmakers in the world, there is no doubt that the comfort is on the highest possible level. First of all, the new generation has gained 2.3 inches in wheelbase, which now counts all-away up to 123.4 inches. This is a pretty respectable number, so it’s no wonder that all three rows are adult-friendly, just like it was the case with the previous-generation model. In the previous generation, the third row features quite respectable 35 inches of legroom in the third row, while the current model is even more impressive. The first and second rows go way over 40 inches of legroom.

There is the cargo area, which features pretty typical numbers for the class. There are more than 17 cubic feet behind the third row, which seems quite respectable. On the other side, you may count on about 43 cubic feet behind the second row and 85 cubic feet of total cargo space, which are pretty average numbers for the class.
Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 Interior Quality and Features
With this carmaker, we always have huge expectations when it comes to interior quality. The new model doesn’t disappoint. This is probably the nicest cabin in the class, characterized by tons of luxury and opulence.
Depending on the configuration you choose, this SUV comes with capacity for either six or seven people. Synthetic leather is standard in base models, as well as power-adjustable and heated front seats. In higher trims, you can also get heated steering wheel, as well as things like ventilated and massaging first- and second-row seats, heated second- and third-row seats, heated first- and second-row armrests, heated and ventilated first- and second-row cup holders.
This sounds like a pretty nice list of features, but things are even more impressive once you look at the list of tech goodies. All models come standard with the company’s excellent MBUX infotainment system, which runs on a huge 12.3-inch touchscreen. The list of standard equipment also includes things like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 13-speaker Burmester premium stereo, nine USB ports, and wireless device charging. In higher trims, you can also count on things like Wi-Fi hot spot, second-row wireless device charging, a 26-speaker Burmester sound system.
What’s new for 2024?
There is no doubt that the biggest novelty for the next year will be the new version of the hi-performance AMG version. The Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 63 AMG will come with lots of upgrades compared to standard models. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the new version of a twin-turbo V8 engine, which delivers around 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The engine will come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all wheels. In such configuration, this SUV will be able to hit 60 in just a little bit more than four seconds.
Count on other upgrades as well, starting from an adaptive air suspension, various styling upgrades etc.
Release Date and Price
We expect to see Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 in the last quarter of 2023, with the starting price of around 76.000 dollars.
